FAQ
What devices can I bring?
You may bring an unlocked, 5G compatible device onto our plan. If you decide to purchase a new device to add onto the plan, please make sure it is still returnable in case unforeseen issues arise. Check to see if your current device is eligible HERE.
Can I have multiple lines?
On the BYU-Idaho student plan, you are allowed 1 line per I-Number.
Can I use an old phone number?
You can transfer a line from another service provider, but we ask that you complete these steps before placing an order with us.
- Make sure your line is still active on your current service. We cannot transfer canceled or inactive lines.
- Gather all of your current account information: name on account, account number, account pin/transfer pin, billing address.
- Pay off any device payment plans in full.
- If you are on a prepaid account, move your line to a postpaid account. We cannot transfer contracts or lines from a prepaid account.
- Please be aware transferring to the BYU-Idaho account could take a few days to 2 weeks. If you are coming from a personal AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon account to our AT&T/ T-Mobile/Verizon account, you will need to complete some additional steps outside of placing your order. Transfers from smaller carriers can present other issues that cause delays as well. We try our best to complete the transfer quickly, but some situations are out of our control.
What about international students?
International students are welcome to join our student plan. However, we cannot transfer a line from an international account, so you may have to active a new line of service with a new phone number. International coverage for lines on our student plan varies depending on the service provider. Please contact the cellular department for details before making any international calls. You will be responsible for all international charges to your line.
